When I saw the following challenge over at Colorful Creations I just knew I wanted to participate...we were to use the a tutorial from the Webster's Pages blog to create our layout. My next step was to find the perfect sketch and photo(s). So when I was visiting my friend Brenda's blog GrandDiva's Creative Corner and saw the beautiful sketch challenge she was running, I knew that I needed to combine both challenges to create my layout. So as they say, I guess I "killed two birds with one stone" And here is what I came up with:

Cards for Leap Around the World
Only a few days left for Let's Scrap's Leap Around the World blog hop! Have you been participating? I've only been able to find the time to make a total of five...but we have five days left so maybe I will be able to make some more. Here are the last two that I made:
Above is a Valentine I made for my parents using the sketch from Stop #30 (Carolina Garrido's blog)
And using the sketch from Stop #26 (Tenny Kusuma's blog), I made a birthday card for a friend whose favorite color is purple!
Well, that's all for now, but hopefully over the next couple of days I will be able to take advantage of all the great card sketches on the blog hop, to get some more cards made. I hope you will have the time to do the same!

Surprise!
I don't know about you, but I love surprises! My best birthdays have been when my husband has thrown me surprise parties...and I never snoop into my Christmas gifts because I want to be surprised when I open them. So I love that Let's Get Sketchy! has decided to surprise all of its members with an impromptu sketch before its grand opening on March 1st. Here's my interpretation of the sketch...

Liebster Blog Award
I had a wonderful surprise recently…I found out that I am a
recipient of the Liebster Blog Award. I
feel so honored to be recognized by a bloggy friend! Thank you so much!
The origins of the Liebster Blog Award are somewhatunclear but general consensus is that they originated inGermany. Liebster, meaning “favorite” or “dearest”, is here toshowcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Uponaccepting this award the recipient must then pass it on tofive more blogs that have 200 or less followers.
I am the proud recipient of this award from Sharon. Please visit her blog and check out her awesome work!
Here are the Liebster rules:
**Choose 5 up and coming blogs of fewer than 200 followers
to award the Liebster to.
**Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by
linking back to them.
**Post the award on your blog. Link back to the blogs you
have given the Liebster to so everyone else can pay them a visit.
So, now it is time for me to pass on the award to 5
blogs.

New Sketch Blog & Design Team Call
I don't know how everyone else feels about using sketches to create their layouts, but they are an absolute essential for me! I used to literally spend hours staring down at pictures and paper trying to figure out how I should arrange them. Now that I have two small children, I just cannot be agonizing over the design of my layout. There are way too many photos to be scrapped and hardly any moments of time to do so. So when I discovered that there were sketch blogs and challenge sites out there, I was ecstatic! I've even started designing my own sketches and am part of the sketch team at the Colorful Creations blog. So for those reasons I was excited to discover a brand new sketch blog called Let's Get Sketchy! They're currently running a design team and sketch team call, both of which I am submitting for. If you have a chance, go check out their new blog and the current mini challenge that's running for their debut. You can find them here --> Let's Get Sketchy!
And here's my interpretation:
I used a picture of Paolina from her newborn photo shoot...it's so hard to believe that was over a year and a half ago! My husband got a huge kick out of the title...which I thought was perfect for either of our kids really. You see, while I'm an American citizen, my husband is a Mexican citizen...so doesn't that make our kids "imported and domestic" lol??

Let's Scrap Blog Hop
So who else is participating in the Let's Scrap's Blog Hop? Not only am I hosting one of the stops, but I figured since I love making cards I ought to participate myself. Even though we have the entire month to make the cards, I wasn't sure if I would be able to find the time to make any at all. We just put our house on the market last week, and this week we started showing it. Personally, I feel awkward staying in the house when people come to view it, so all week long I've been shuffling the kids outside for most of the day. Talk about being thankful for living in Southern California with the temps in the 70s! And of course, Santiago & Paolina have been in 7th heaven spending almost all day long playing outside. However it's caused a bit of a problem for me trying to get housework done...and let's not even talk about what it's done for my creative time lol! But somehow or another I've managed to maintain a perfectly clean house, done multiple loads of laundry, kept my family fed, and wait for it...made three cards! So I thought I would share what I created, and if you haven't already been inspired by the sketches and amazing examples out there, maybe these would give you a little additional motivation to join in on the fun!
From the sketch at Stop #7 (Margaret's blog) I created this thank you note to send to my mom's best friend who just gave me an entire set of dishes that coordinates with a set my grandmother gave me. How generous is that!
Using the sketch at Stop #6 (Debby De Wilde's blog) I made another thank you note for a friend who was gracious enough to loan me her car for a week while she was vacationing in the Bahamas. My husband takes our only car to work during the week, meaning if I can't walk there I can't go there...so it was such a blessing to have a vehicle to run errands with the kids for a week!
And then today, using the sketch from Stop #15 (Debbie Butcher's blog) I was able to make this lovely Valentine to send to my mother and father-in-law.
Since it's Super Bowl weekend, it might be a challenge to find the time to make any more cards, but I'll of course make every effort to squeeze the time in! Happy Friday everyone!
