Scrap Much?

Is it just me or has this month absolutely flown by? I can't believe there are only a few days left in January. Part of me wishes I had had a little more scrappy time. But there are zero complaints for the major reason I've been away from my craft table. The weather has been glorious and I love getting to spend time outside enjoying it. Especially in light of the horrible storms out in the Northeast US.

During the time that we did experience more wintry weather this month, I got a few layouts done. Below is a page I did using a sketch from ScrapMuch? and also using the mood board for "Get Inspired" Magazine's March edition.

I flipped the sketch and came up with this...

The color palette, flowers and sheer femininity of the mood board totally inspired this page that features a photo of Paolina at her newborn photo shoot. I love that I was able to use some Valentine themed product for this page, even though it's not a page about Valentine's Day.

There's still time for you to link up your layout inspired by the mood board. February 1st is the deadline, and several winners will be chosen to be published in the March 1st edition of "Get Inspired."

Stuck?! Sketches

Hello! Just wanted to pop in real quick...Santiago is home today with an eye infection. I feel bad for this poor guy. First he catches a cold when the weather has been absolutely beautiful, but he hasn't really felt up to playing outside and enjoying it. Then he got home from school yesterday with a bright red, oozy eye. I'm all about getting fresh air when you're sick though, so I had him sit out in the backyard with me while I photographed some layouts. Now he's doing some quiet time in his room...not sure if it's more for me or him *wink*.

Anyhow, while I have some time to myself I wanted to share a page I did using the January 1st sketch from Stuck?! Sketches...

And here's my interpretation...

Do you ever finish a layout, photograph it, and then when it's up on your computer screen you notice it's missing something? I do that. A lot. And it's usually the date. I'm looking at this page right now realizing there is no date on it. Guess I need to go back and add it on before I forget again! Fortunately I have a fairly good memory for this type of thing, so without looking I can tell you it was January of 2011, when Paolina was about 7 months old. We thought she was going to skip the crawling stage all together because at this point she was barely making any effort to crawl and was focusing almost entirely on pulling herself up on furniture and cruising around the room in that manner. Well, I'm off to go put a date on my layout,..have a great day!

Let's Get Sketchy January Week 4

Happy Monday! After some rain came through and cooled things off for a few days last week, it's back to being sunny and warmer. In fact they're talking about it getting into the low 80s later this week. I am one happy girl! I've been enjoying taking the kids to the park to play after school almost everyday and barely noticed I haven't had any time at my craft table. Well...almost. It seems like there are always great sketches and challenges to participate in, and of course I often get sucked into watching YouTube videos about new techniques. I need to find time to play inside! For those of you who have no other options than to hibernate indoors this winter, you will be happy to find this brand new sketch up at Let's Get Sketchy...

I rotated it and came up with this...

These are some fun photos from a 70's theme party Noé and I went to back in 2007. Talk about difficult pictures to scrap...aren't the colors in all our costumes awful??

Please take the time to hop over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog and see what the rest of Team B did with this fun sketch.

My Scraps & More Sketches #98

Happy happy Friday! I'm feeling especially chipper because the temps are going to be in the low 60s today. I'm looking forward to picking the kids up from school and taking them to the park. As much as I love being at my craft table, I'm as stir crazy as the kids are with all this cold & gloomy weather. I can't wait to spend the weekend outdoors in the sun!

Depending on where you live, you may not be as fortunate to have some warm days in January, and you may be still dealing with frigid winter weather. No worries....My Scraps & More Sketches has a brand new sketch up today. If I can't be outside, I can think of no better place to be than creating. So without further ado...

And here's my take on it...

Not only was I inspired by the My Scraps & More sketch, but I was also inspired by the My Scraps & More challenge forum. They have some super fun Daily Challenges, and this particular one was Throwback Thursday which prompted us to use old photos and rub-ons. These are definitely old photos...Valentine's Day 2007. And I used some rub-on alphas to make the "dinner" subtitle.

Hope you have a chance to check out the sketch as well as the fun challenges on the challenge forum! Have a great weekend!

Sketchabilities

There's no denying it, so I'm just going to admit that I'm absolutely spoiled by living in Southern California. I can't think of any other continental state with a climate to compare. We spent so much of our life outdoors and spent next to nothing keeping our home at a comfortable temperature. And rarely did I have an issue with getting my layouts photographed when we lived there. So now for nearly two years, I've been perpetually agonizing over not being able to get good pictures of my pages. It's killing me! It's also kills me to have to yet again apologize for the crummy photo I'm about to share.

I was inspired by Sketch #130 over at Sketchabilites , and rotated it to create this...

I'm absolutely in love with the Jubilee collection by Mind's Eye, and it saddens me that this photo just doesn't do the colors justice!

Let's Get Sketchy January Week 2

Happy Monday! For those of you who are not thrilled that the weekend is over, at least you can be excited for a brand new sketch at Let's Get Sketchy.

And here's my take on it...

I realize that scrapping cards, memorabilia and photos that aren't of people/pets, isn't the most popular form of scrapbooking, but I love to document all different types of moments of our life as a family. If I just shove a birthday card, ticket stub or picture my kids drew into a shoebox, I won't be able to reminisce about that memory like I do over a cute photo that has been featured in one of my scrapbook albums. So while this type of layout may never find itself published in a print magazine, it's a treasured memory for me!

Product List:
My Mind's Eye Jubilee patterned paper
Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm patterned paper
My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus cardstock tag
Crate Paper Mia and On Trend ephemera
KI Memories soft charms
Liquitex gesso
Faber-Castell gelatos
The Crafters Workshop stencil
Tattered Angels glimmer mist
