Sketch~N~Scrap

The last day of May, and I'm still trying to squeeze in some layouts for the month. This page is using the May 1st sketch from Sketch~N~Scrap.

And I came up with this...

I've really started to migrate away from the shabby chic style, which I think is incredibly beautiful, but after experimenting with it for a few years I don't really feel it's "me". However, I had already started Paolina's newborn photo shoot album scrapping this way with mostly Webster's Pages and Prima product, so I am trying to remain consistent as I finish it up.

Thanks for looking! Enjoy your weekend.

My Scraps & More Sketch #83

Wow! Is it seriously the second to last day of May? This weekend we're getting our family pool pass and signing the kids up for swim lessons. And next week is Santiago's last week of school. I guess summer is here! Hmmm...not sure if my body is actually ready for bikini season. May we please have a few extra weeks so I can get to the gym a bit more?! I guess I should have spent a little less time scrapping and a little bit more time working out. But who can resist a great sketch...like the following from My Scraps & More Sketches.

And here's what I did with it...

I'm starting to get a little sad that I've gone through almost all of my kids' infant photos. I love reminiscing over them. Paolina was just 9 days old here. Fortunately I still have a lot of photos from each of their first years that need to be scrapped, so I will have to make due with that!

For this page the background paper is Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm and the rest is lots of miscellaneous scraps. I always feel so accomplished when I can put dent into my stash of scraps!

Thanks for looking...now please head over to the My Scraps & More Sketches blog for lots more inspiration!

S.W.A.T. Drill #31

It's been awhile since I participated in a S.W.A.T. challenge...I do believe it might have been over a year ago when I was still on their design team! There are just too many great sketch & challenge blogs out there for me to play along with every one of them each month. However I was really drawn to the S.W.A.T. Drill #31, as the color palette was dead-on for some scraps sitting on my craft desk after doing a few layouts.

With my color inspiration I created cards for both my mom and mother-in-law for Mother's Day.

Stuck?! Sketches

The three-day holiday weekend really threw me for a loop. I keep thinking it's the day before it actually is. This is bad when there are deadlines lol!  So it looks like I'll be cramming in several posts the next couple of days to showcase some layouts I did for various challenge blogs. The below sketch I created using the following sketch from Stuck?! Sketches

The May challenge at ScrapStuffz "Inspired By" Challenges inspired me to choose my color palette. The diecut paper and fussycut hearts are Basic Grey Sugar Rush...one of my all time favorite lines of theirs.

Let's Get Sketchy May Week 4

Happy Memorial Day to my fellow Americans! May has really flown by...can you believe it's the last Monday of the month? For some of you this might be the last week of school. In our district the kids will go next week as well, but with only two full days and two half days. Summer is truly upon us! Now for some that might mean that you will have more scrappy time, but for others who have kids home from school and/or will be traveling more then it means less time to scrap. In which case this sketch from Let's Get Sketchy just might be one of the last you will be able to get done before summer craziness ensues....

Hope you are able to take the time to head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to check out what the rest of Team B did with the sketch. And of course we hope you will link up your own creation as well!

ScrapMuch? May Challenge

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Memorial Day weekend. Ours has been busy but fun. Our city held a free concert & fireworks show in the park last night, today is my husband's birthday as well as my in-laws' wedding anniversary so we will be going out to celebrate both later today, and of course tomorrow is Memorial Day.

This past week I've been busy making cards & gifts for birthdays, teachers and Father's Day (which is right around the corner!) as well as projects for Paolina's birthday party which is in less than two weeks. So of course I have had way less time to scrapbook as I would like. Although I'm pretty sure I say that every month! Anyhow, I had hoped to use all of the May sketches over at ScrapMuch? but only found time to use this one. However it is a double so technically I got two scrapbook pages done, right??

I used some new papers from the BoBunny Modern Miss line. I really liked how they worked with the background paper which is an older line from Basic Grey called Porcelain. It also went well with some of the vellum ephemera from the Crate Paper Styleboard line as well as some scraps I had from the Maggie Holmes line. I just love mixing & matching product! I also enjoy scrapping older pictures. Santiago looks so sweet holding his brand new baby sister. I should pull out this layout to remind him of how gentle he was with her the next time I catch them fighting lol.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!

Paper Secrets May 1st Challenge

Another challenge site I haven't had the opportunity to participate in for awhile is Paper Secrets. I've been able to get in a bit more scrappy time this month so I was able to play along with their May 1st challenge, which was to use the below sketch as well as include items on my layout beginning with the each of the letters of the word SHOWER.

And here's my take on it...
S (Sassafras Lass patterned paper); H (Heart); O (Orange); W (White); E (Enamel Dots); R (Round buttons).

Scrappy Friends May Challenge

It's been awhile since I've participated in a Scrappy Friends challenge, so I was excited to get the opportunity to do so this month. For those of you who have never played along before...each month three "scrappy friends" combine challenges on each of their blogs for a great chance to win awesome prizes. Brenda's challenge is to use the following sketch.

Rochelle's challenge is to use the following Tic Tac Toe board

And Kelly's challenge is to use the following color inspiration

I combined all three challenges and came up with this...
I have to say...is the Basic Grey Fresh Cut collection absolutely perfect for that color palette or what?!

From the Tic Tac Toe board I used the right vertical row (Masking, Bling, Enamel Dots). For the masking I used a 6x6 Crafter's Workshop template called Sketch Grid. My "bling" is Stickles on the hearts of the dark grey paper...I wish the photo showed it better. And I used a Recollecions enamel dot down in the bottom left-hand corner.

My Scraps & More Sketch #81

Yay it's Friday! The only thing better than the upcoming weekend is a new sketch from My Scraps & More Sketches to play with.

And here's what I did with it...
I used photos of Santiago and myself on Mother's Day 2010, when I was about 36 weeks pregnant with Paolina. For product I used some older My Mind's Eye, Colorbok and Jillibean Soup mixed with some new Studio Calico LemonLush.

As always, the design team did a fabulous job with the sketch. Please head over to the My Scraps & More Sketches to check out their pages and hopefully play along too!

Let's Get Sketchy May Week 1

Another Monday which means it's time for another sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. This sketch is the first one of May so you will have all month long to be able to link up with your own layout. This was not my week to make a sample page, but I had the time so I thought I would take advantage of an amazing sketch...

I adapted it to accommodate only two photos and came up with this...
Like I was saying in a previous post, I've been inspired to work with my photos from the Cow Parade that took place in Mexico City in 2005/2006. I again worked with Amy Tan's Plus One collection for these pages...I'm really loving the vibrant color palette in this collection for these sculptures.

For this adjoining page I "winged it" without a sketch.

Thanks for looking. Hope you will take the time to head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to see what Team A did with this awesome sketch!

My Scraps & More Sketches #79

Happy happy Friday everyone! Time for the weekend and a brand new sketch from My Scraps & More Sketches.

And here's my take on it...
I used a photo of Paolina when she was about 1-1/2, hiding on our butcher block shelf. I'm thinking about adding some hidden journaling to tell about how she also liked to "hide" there to make poop in her diaper!

The background paper is My Mind's Eye Find Your Wings and Fly; the fussy cut flowers are Crate Paper Portrait; the scraps are Studio Calico LemonLush, Crate Paper Love Notes, and some older My Mind's Eye; the buttons & enamel dots are My Mind's Eye; and the Washi tape is Bella Blvd.

Please take the time to head on over to the My Scraps & More Sketches blog to find more inspiration. Don't forget you have until ---- to link up for a chance at a prize.
