ScrapMuch?

I seriously took Southern California's ah-mazing climate for granted when we lived there. And I don't just mean being able to enjoy the majority of my days outdoors or having my windows open most of the year or rarely running the AC & heat. I'm talking about photographing my layouts, people! So frustrated by that since we moved to Dallas. Rain, wind, snow...what a headache! Anyhow...I finished the following two pages several days ago but only found the ideal lighting to get them photographed today. Take note I only mention the perfection of the lighting...it's 30 degrees and very windy outside.

So here they are, using sketches from ScrapMuch?

These are photos of Paolina when she was first born and she & I were still at the hospital.

And these photos are from my birthday dinner in 2011.

Thanks for looking!

Let's Get Sketchy February Week 4

Happy Monday! Well as happy as it can be for a very cold, Monday morning  after a week of spring-like temperatures. Dallas has been completely bipolar this winter...if we continue to live here I certainly hope it isn't like this every year!!

But I digress...it's time for a sketch at Let's Get Sketchy!

And here's what I did with it...

If you've followed my blog for any amount of time, you've probably noticed I love baby feet. Oh and those tiny, tiny toes. They're just so sweet! I loved the pictures our photographer took of Santiago's hands & feet at his newborn photo shoot, so a few moths later I made an attempt to photograph them myself. These pictures don't look anywhere near as amazing as a professional's but they are super sweet to me just the same.

I have a mix of new & old product for this page. The background paper is My Mind's Eye Cut & Paste, the arrows & Polaroid frames are Pink Paislee Hello Kid, and the rest is miscellaneous scraps & diecuts from older collections of Basic Grey, Crate Paper, Sassafass Lass & Flair.

Thanks for taking the time to look. If you also live somewhere that's continuing to experience a frigid winter climate then you can warm up by sitting down at your computer (with a hot beverage of choice) and browse through the rest of the layouts from our talented Design Team at Let's Get Sketchy. Hopefully you will find lots of inspiration and will join in as well!

My Scraps & More #69

Happy happy Friday! Not only is it almost the weekend but it's time for another sketch at My Scraps & More Sketches...how fun is that?

Here's the sketch...

I rotated it and came up with this...
For this layout I used a photo of our family on the day we brought Paolina home from the hospital...hard to believe that was almost four years ago!

Thanks for looking...hope you will take the time to head over to the My Scraps & More Sketches blog to check out the pages our talented design team created. And I hope you are inspired to create your own layout and link it up for a chance to win a fun prize!

My Scraps & More #68

Happy Saturday! Just a quick post to share a page I did for My Scraps & More Sketches. Yesterday a new sketch went live, and even though it wasn't my week to provide a layout I did one anyway. I always figure that if I have a cool sketch and the time to play with it, why not take advantage and scrap away! So here's this week's sketch...

And here's my take on it...
The photo on this page was taken when Santiago was 20 months old, using a straw for the first time. I used some old Sassafras Lass, Scenic Route, Crate Paper and My Mind's Eye, as well as some flair from the prize I won at Buttons and Badges.

Don't forget that for a chance to win the February prize, you must complete one layout from sketches #67, 68, 69 and 70.

Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!  My parents are taking the kids to their house tonight so that my Valentine and I can have a date night without lingering thoughts of two little munchkins launching themselves into bed with us at 6am the following day demanding to be fed breakfast...as goes every other Saturday morning. We plan to have dinner at the same Thai place that we went to for my birthday last year...we know it's the best Thai food we've ever had so it's a guaranteed win. Afterwards we plan to go see Winter's Tale. I'm not normally a "chic flick" kinda gal (I honestly prefer "guy" movies) but it is Valentine's Day...so a romantic movie it is!

It's been a busy day...I had to go to both kids's Valentine parties which were back-to-back and at different schools. If it weren't for both kids having food restrictions I probably would not have gone to either and certainly not both. But unfortunately they are both too young for me to trust them to not eat treats that they cannot have. And I don't trust the teachers to pay attention to them either, especially in Santiago's class of 42!

So before I get myself ready for my date I thought I would quickly share the Valentine I made for the kids' teachers. I used a card sketch from Sketch~N~Scrap.

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Let's Get Sketchy February Week 2

Another Monday and another sketch from Let's Get Sketchy!  This week I had the pleasure of working with my own sketch...

I flipped it and came up with this...
All the product here is older...some of it is even from manufacturers that have since closed their doors...Daisy Ds, Little Yellow Bicycle, My Mind's Eye Life Stories, Basic Grey Kioshi & Junebug and Making Memories.

Please head over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog and see what our other talented Design Team members came up with...and of course we would love for you to link up your page!

My Scraps & More Sketch #67

Well here it is...my very first design team layout for My Scraps & More Sketches! I just have to say once again how honored I am to have been chosen to serve on a team of such talented girls. This is the fabulous sketch for the week...don't forget to link yours up for a chance to win a fabulous prize from the My Scraps & More store.

And here's my take on it...
I used a photo of Santiago with Paolina at her newborn photo shoot. These days they (of course) have their normal squabbly, sibling moments, but he still loves her just as much...always trying to sneak in hugs and kisses whenever he can. For the background paper I use My Mind's Eye Find Your Wings and Fly. The scrap of floral paper is Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm, and the pinwheel & fussy cut hexagons are Crate Paper The Pier.

I hope you will take the time to head over to the My Scraps & More Sketches blog...this week's reveal is so inspirational and I'm sure it will tempt you to play along with our sketch!

Exciting News

I've been about to burst with excitement since this past Tuesday when I received some very happy email, but I've had to keep my news a secret until it was revealed today. I have made the Design Team for My Scraps & More Sketches! I've been playing along with the challenges since the beginning so I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am to be a part this amazing team. Here's the sketch I had to work with for their Design Team call...

And here's the layout I submitted...
I loved the sketch but I'm not accustomed to working with such small photos, so I immediately knew I was going to have to adapt it just a bit to fit my style. I was glad that, despite the two larger photos that I substituted for the three tiny ones, it stayed fairly true to the sketch. Speaking of photos, these were taken after we gave Paolina her first bath. She looks a bit shell-shocked! I still have a few more pics that we took of her actually being bathed that I need to scrap on an adjoining page...and she's clearly more than just a little unhappy in those photos.

Anyhow, I really hope you will head over to My Scraps & More Sketches to meet the rest of the team. I'm looking forward to be serving with them and sharing all the work that I will be doing with the awesome sketches!

Get Inspired Magazine

It's time for another issue of Let's Get Sketchy's online magazine Get Inspired. And wow is it full of inspiration! Sketches, layouts, tips & tricks! Here are the projects I created for this issue...

This layout is for the "Selfie" section of the magazine. Most of the product is Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm with a few tidbits of Fancy Pants Trendsetter and Crate Paper Random

This altered frame is for the "Mixed Media" Section. I made it as a gift for my BFF who adores anything & everything animal print and her favorite color is pink. The glittery zebra print paper is Paper Studio, the tags are Basic Grey & My Mind's Eye, and the flowers & bling are Prima & Paper Studio.

I hope these samples have tantalized you enough to head over and check out the latest issue of Get Inspired!

If you didn't get a chance to submit to the previous editions...no worries! Go check out the information about how you can submit for Issue 3.
