Twisted Blueprints #10

Well just when I was enjoying the mild weather, the temps skyrocketed up into the 90s the last two days. My solution: crank on the A/C and invite the neighbor kids over to play with Santiago & Paolina. My end result: 10 loads of laundry washed, dried, folded & hung....and two scrapbooking layouts completed. Of course one is for next's week Let's Get Sketchy! challenge, so I can't show you that. But...my other layout was for a challenge at Colorful Creations.
The challenge was to use the sketch provided, and the twist was to use flags, mist, and 3 of a kind. My "3 of a kind" is a bit hard to see, but there are 3 staples.

Let's Get Sketchy! Challenge #26

Last week was absolutely wonderful! After only 2 weeks of temps up in the 90s, they went back down again, which meant the kids playing outside and me enjoying all the fresh air coming through the house. I'm such a wimp when it comes to the heat, and it makes me feel like doing absolutely nothing, including the things I love most (like scrapbooking). So not only was the housework really piling up for a few weeks there, but I just really lost my crafty mojo. I was super excited to get into my scrap room and work on this week's reveal at Let's Get Sketchy! And here it is...

I used some sweet sweet photos of Santiago when he was just 4 weeks old.  Please take a peek at the sketch and consider joining in...I love seeing all the different interpretations of a single sketch!

Let's Get Sketchy! Challenge #24

I've lived in Southern California for eight years now, but I still manage to forget every single year that our summer comes late...August and September are our hot months. We sail thorough June and July and I think about how blessed we are to not need the air conditioning, and then the first week of August hits and the temps always soar up into the 90s. And this year was no different. I have some friends who live close enough to the beach that these months are hot but don't quite require running the A/C, but unfortunately we live just enough inland that in my opinion it's a necessity. My only consolation is that I don't have to dust or steam clean the floors as often (with all the windows closed we don't get all that obnoxious gray dust settling on the furniture & floors) aaaannnnnd I actually get a little bit more scrapbooking done. It's too hot for me to walk the kids to the park, so they come inside with the neighbor kids and play, or they splash around in the kiddie pool in our backyard. Yay for me!

So for once in quite some time I actually got several layouts done this week...and I even submitted my design team work *gasp* early. Well early for me anyway...not the last day and hour it was due!  And here it is. My take on this week's sketch at Let's Get Sketchy!

Let's Get Sketchy! Challenge #23

It's the first Monday of August which means it's time for another sketch from Let's Get Sketchy! I'm proud to say that it's also one of my sketches. It's always so much fun to see what the rest of the design team does with one of my creations, and I also enjoy seeing all the different interpretations of those who submit their layouts. I guess that's what is fun about sketches...but when it's one of my own it just makes it all that more special :).

So here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:
I used photos from Santiago's one year photo shoot.  It's hard to believe that that was already over three years ago! I find that I'm very hard on myself for being so "far behind" in my scrapbooking, but it sure is fun to reminisce over these "older" photos when I finally pull them out for a layout :)
